These procedures must be consistent with the center’s policy on guidance and positive instruction, and include documentation of the steps taken to understand and respond to challenging behavior including: Identify and consult with an early childhood mental health consultant, AS DEFINED IN SECTION 26.5-3-701, C.R.S or other specialist as needed.

Required correction: Update your policy handbook to include what steps are taken prior to suspension and expulsion, to include consulting with an early childhood mental health consultant. Submit a written statement of compliance with documentation to the Specialist.

Pursuant to Section 19-3-304, C.R.S., any caregiver or staff member in a child care facility who has reasonable cause to know or suspect that a child has been subjected to abuse or neglect or who has observed the child being subjected to circumstances or conditions that would reasonably result in abuse or neglect shall immediately upon receiving such information report or cause a report to be made of such fact to the state hotline, county department of human or social services or local law enforcement agency.
