All equipment and furnishings were not in good repair. Music bench that is on the toddler play area needs to be sanded and free of hazards from the wood. Wood needs to be sanded down so children will not get splinters from the wood when playing.

Shelter-in-place or lockdown drills were not practiced every three months and/or drill record was incomplete. Emergency Log has the last drill was conducted 3/19/24. Shelter- in -place drill was conducted today.

Sanitation Rule 15A NCAC 18A.2815 (e) Hot water that exceeds 120 degrees Fahrenheit us a burn hazard and shall not be provided in areas accessible to children. The Kitchen door was unlocked while unoccupied.

When medication was administered, documentation was not completed or maintained for 6 months and/or the documentation did not include the required information. Medication documentation was not maintained or current for the child's inhaler.

The depth of the loose surfacing was not based on critical height of the equipment. Surfacing for the Head Start Playground did not meet the critical height for the equipment. Mulch needs to be added to this playground.

For children under three years of age, materials were not made available to children on a daily basis. In the classroom for the one-year-olds in the area for dramatic play the stove and refrigerator were taped so the child did not have assess to the materials.
