What we found

Cherry Creek is Denver's most affluent neighborhood, and its childcare market reflects that. Programs here are well-resourced, well-staffed, and often specialized — language immersion, Reggio Emilia, STEM-focused, or some combination. Families in Cherry Creek expect premium quality and are willing to pay for it, which means providers can invest in facilities, materials, and teacher compensation at levels that are hard to match elsewhere in the metro.

The provider landscape includes established private preschools with years-long reputations, Montessori programs in purpose-built spaces, language immersion schools (Mandarin, Spanish, and French), and a handful of licensed home daycares in the residential blocks south of 1st Avenue. Cherry Creek North's commercial district adds a few center-based options convenient for parents who work in the shopping district or nearby offices.

What Childcare Costs in Cherry Creek

Cherry Creek childcare runs $1,600 to $2,500 per month for full-time care. Center-based infant care costs $2,000 to $2,500. Toddler and preschool rates at centers range from $1,600 to $2,200. Language immersion and specialized programs often carry a $200-$400 monthly premium over comparable English-only programs. Home daycares are typically $1,500 to $2,000. Cherry Creek is the most expensive childcare market in Denver, comparable only to Highlands.

The Waitlist Reality

Cherry Creek's most prestigious programs maintain 6 to 12 month waitlists. Language immersion programs are the most competitive — they attract families from across the metro, not just the neighborhood. Private preschools with strong reputations fill through alumni networks and sibling priority. For infant care, applying during pregnancy is standard. Home daycares and newer programs have shorter waits.

What to Watch For

  • Language immersion. Cherry Creek has the strongest concentration of language immersion programs in Denver. If bilingual education is a priority, this is the neighborhood with the most choices. Look for programs where immersion is integrated into the daily schedule, not just a weekly enrichment class.
  • Premium vs. value. Cherry Creek's highest-priced programs are genuinely well-resourced — low ratios, experienced teachers, excellent facilities. But premium pricing doesn't automatically mean the best fit for your child. Tour programs at multiple price points before deciding.
  • Cherry Creek vs. Washington Park. These neighborhoods border each other. Washington Park has similar quality at somewhat lower prices. If Cherry Creek programs are full or over budget, Wash Park is the natural alternative.
  • DPP credits. Even in Cherry Creek, Denver Preschool Program credits apply at participating providers for 4-year-olds. The credit amount is income-based but available to all Denver families. Ask about DPP during your tour.
  • Cherry Creek School District. Some Cherry Creek families live in the Cherry Creek School District (not DPS), which runs its own preschool programs. Check which district you're in — it affects your public preschool options.
